Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals come with a Rental Agreement, which will be provided at the time of booking confirmation or vehicle pickup. This document outlines the terms, conditions, insurance information, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Vehicle Rental Requirements
- To rent a vehicle from Tipton Car Hire, you must be at least 21 years old. Note that age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, and drivers under 25 may incur extra charges. You must possess a valid driving licence suitable for the vehicle category, held for the duration outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additionally, you need to present valid identification and proof of your current address, along with payment information and a security deposit. Comply with any further requirements specified in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Details
- Reservations can be made via our website, by phone, or directly at our Tipton branch. A deposit may be needed to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and a security deposit are usually payable at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where relevant. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely by trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, a thorough inspection is required to identify any existing damage, which must be reported immediately. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed by both parties. It is your responsibility to return the vehicle in the same condition as received, accounting only for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and additional charges may apply. The vehicle should also be returned with the same fuel level as when it was collected; refueling fees will be incurred if the fuel level is lower. If you anticipate returning the vehicle late, please contact us as soon as possible, as late returns may result in extra charges. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges that arise during your rental, along with an associated administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All car rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. You will find full coverage details and excess amounts outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to lower your financial responsibility. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You are liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount, unless additional insurance covers it. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse remains your responsibility, irrespective of insurance coverage.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ depending on your booking type and the notice given. For precise details, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Remember that late cancellations or missed appointments may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities or purposes. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or engaging in any dangerous activities. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should be used only for its intended purpose and within the specified passenger and weight limits. Driving outside the agreed geographical boundaries without prior authorization is not permitted.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
8. Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Tipton Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in this region.
10. Terms Updates
Tipton reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
